The 2nd Dragoon Guards were known as "The Bays" as they only rode bay mounts, a custom starting in 1767.

(5) Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys)
Formed on 2nd July 1971 from the amalgamation of 3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards) and The Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons). The eagle in the centre of the badge was worn to commemorate the capture of a Regimental Eagle of the French 45th at Waterloo.

Formed in 1922 from the amalgamation of the 3rd Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards and the 6th Dragoon Guards (The Caribiniers), originally named 3rd/6th Dragoon Guards, changed to present title in 1928.
