[394] The 22nd Dragoons

Raised on 1st December 1940 from officers and men of 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards and the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards. Disbanded November 1945.

[342] The 23rd Hussars

The 23rd existed before WWII having originally being formed in 1781 before being disbanded and again formed in 1794 lasting until 1817. The last 23rd Dragoons became about on 1st December 1940, the initial draft being supplied by officers and men from the 10th Royal Hussars and 15th/19th Hussars. The 23rd Hussars was disbanded 30th January 1946.

[343] The 24th Lancers

Formed on 1st December 1940 from cadres of the 9th Queen,s Royal lancers and the 17th/21st Lancers. They also existed before this date being raised in 1794 and disbanded in 1802. Due to heavy casualties at the Normandy landing the 24th were disbanded, with the survivors joing the 23rd Hussars.

[344] The 25th Dragoons

Raised in Sialkot India, on the 1st February 1941, disbanded in 1948.

[395] The 26th Hussars

Raised on 1st February 1941 in India, the initial drafts coming from the 14th/20th King's Hussars. Disbanded in 1948.

[345] The 27th Lancers

Formed on 6th July 1941 mainly from a cadre of the 12th Lancers, and later by a cadre from the North Irish Horse. On 19th January 1942 a further draft of 235 men from the Welch Regiment also joined the 27th. Disbanded in August 1945.
