Formed in 1968 from the amalgamation of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers, the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) and the Lancashire Fusiliers.

The antelope badge was taken from the arms of King Henry VI. Montgomery of Alamein, 1st Viscount of Hindhead, Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery (1887-1976) commanded the 1st Battalion 1931-34.

The Royal Fusiliers were raised by King James II to guard his train of Artillery in the Tower of London. The motto of the 7th is "Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense" (Evil to him who evil thinks).
