[241hkl] Red and white hackle of the Northumberland Fusiliers (5th Foot).
When the fusiler Brigade was formed in 1958, There were three English fusilier regiments (Royal Warwickshire Fusilers were formed in 1963, from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment) They all adopted the same capbadge, which is as worn by the current Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. The main distinguishing feature was the different coloured hackles. As the Northumberland Fusiliers was the senior regiment in the fusilier brigade, when the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was formed they adopted their hackle for the whole of the new regiment.
