The Green Howards

[43] The Green Howards (19th)

The Regiment's name dates back to around 1744, when at that time Regiments were named after the Colonels, they found themselves billeted with the 3rd Foot who had a Colonel of the same name, both Regiments added their facing colours to their name so the 19th became the Green Howards and the 3rd became the Howards Buffs (now part of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment).
