The origin of the Fleur-de-Lys badge has not been definitely established, but there is a regimental tradition to the effect that it was granted for many successful actions against the French in the West Indies during the latter half of the 18th Century.

After the Second World War the brass badge changed to white metal, this was worn until the 1958 amalgamation with the King's Regiment (Liverpool) to form the King's Regiment (Manchester and Liverpool).
