The Regimental badge is similar to the badge of the Coldstream Guards, as it is believed to symbolise a link between the two Regiments when the 29th Foot was raised in 1694 by Colonel Farrington, who was previously in the Coldstreams, successive Colonels have also come from the Guards and the badge was adopted in the 18th century.
