Formed in 1959 from the amalgamation of the Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) and the Wiltshire Regiment (Duke of Edinburgh's). Now part of the Royal Gloucestershire Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment (Options for Change).

The Dragon badge was granted to the 49th Foot to commemorate its service in the China War of 1840-42.

[274] The Wiltshire Regiment (62nd/99th)
The saying "Dressed up to the nines" comes from the immaculate turnout of the 99th Foot, who were chosen to stand guard over the Queen's Pavilion at Aldershot in 1958.
