[79] The Royal Marines
Initially raised as the Duke of Albany's Maritime Regiment of Foot in 1664 and paid for out of Admiralty funds, the present day Royal Marines were formed on the amalgamation of the Royal Marine Artillery and the Royal Marine Light Infantry in 1923.
