[30] The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment)(1st)
The oldest Regiment in the British Army, having been formed in 1633 as Sir John Hepburn's Regiment, the 1st Battalion wear a red backing in the centre of the badge (not supplied).
The 9th Battalion were the only one to wear a kilt and as such were known as the "dandy ninth"

Formed in 1959 from the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment).

[231] The Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment) (71st/74th)
The 74th Highlanders were all but destroyed at the Battle of Assaye 1803, hence the elephant honour on the badge.
