Formed in 1961 from the amalgamation of the Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) and the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.

The 92nd Highland Regiment were present at the Battle of Waterloo, and took part in the celebrated charge with the Scots Greys with the combined war cry 'Scotland for ever'.

The 93rd Highlanders hold the Battle honour unique amongst infantry Regiments, 'Balaklava' for their stand against the Russian cavalry during the Crimean War, depicted in the famous picture 'The Thin Red Line'.
