[59] The Special Air Service Regiment

Initially formed in North Africa, the birthdate of the Regiment is given as 17th November 1941 when it first saw action with the Long Range Desert Group. The SAS are famous the world over for their daring undercover exploits.

[340] The Long Range Desert Group

Raised in June 1940 the LRDG served with distinction in the North African Desert until 1943, then in the Balkans until its disbandment in 1945.

[337] V Force

V Force was raised in South East Asia Command, during WWII, their objective was to arm insurgent natives and persuade them to harass the Japanese communication lines. At the end of the War V force was disbanded.

[309] No1 Demolition Squadron (Popski's Private Army)

Raised in the Middle East by Vladimir Peniakoff, who was an Anglo Pole living in Egypt.
