[MMGVI] THE MILITARY MEDAL GVI ISSUE
Although founded by King George V in 1916 for award to NCO's and other ranks in the Army for 'Bravery in the Field' the first awards dated back to the beginning of the 1914-18 War. Provision was made for the award of bars. Subsequent warrants extended to women and warrant Officers, as well as to personnel in the other services when operating on the ground. Shown is the MM with second award bar fitted.
